MusicStation Showcases now at the Plough in Leigh

Lily plays one of her Grade 7 songs – Toxicity
MusicStation runs regular jam sessions.
Jam Session Info:
It’s free entry as always, and accompanied children are allowed.
For anyone not sure what a Jam Session is, it’s not a concert, and you can just watch if you want.
There is a house band (MusicStation staff and teachers) and all the equipment is set up, we play a couple of songs to start it off, and then we invite people to get up and play songs.
We pass a list around and people write their names down, and we call you up to the front one act at a time.
Some people have songs already prepared, and they perform on their own or with friends etc, without the house band.
You can do songs you have written yourself as well as covers.
Or you may know the vocal, guitar, bass, keyboard or drum part for a song, so you tell us what song it is… and if we know it, the house band can play the other instruments needed, and we have a go at playing the song altogether without any rehearsal. People try and show each other riffs/ chord progressions/ basslines, drumbeats etc before the song starts, and sometimes we shout out chords and names of sections out during the song. Mistakes are frequent, and it’s all good fun – everyone has a laugh and the audience always enjoys it!
If we don’t know it, we can suggest another song, and we have a list of songs we already know as a house band.
Or you can play Trinity songs from your grade books – lots of people do this – either with the backing track (which we will put through the PA) or with the band if we know it.
If you want to do a song, please email to let us know in advance, and we’ll learn it so we’re ready for you.
Usually we fit everyone in, and if everyone’s been up and there’s time left, we can invite people up for a second go if they want to play again.
By the way, if you’ve already attended a Jam and played, it’s absolutely ok (in fact desirable) to come and do that same song again – it will be even better the second time!
When we’re all done, we usually play a couple of songs as the house band to finish up the night.
Please see social media for the dates and locations.
