Setting a time and a date for your digital exam is a great way to make progress, otherwise it can be put off again and again…
The new Digital Exams are available to take all year, so if you are ready for your exam you no longer have to wait for the next exam session.
You can book a session as long as you think you will need (with a minimum of 30 minutes).
As a guide, you might need more than one play through to get the best results. If you are ready and fully prepared to take your exam we would recommend two or three play throughs. You can then choose your favourite.
For Initial, Grade 1 and Grade 2 you could expect to do three complete takes (3 songs, 3 times) in 30 minutes.
Grade 3 and Grade 4 you might be advised to book 45 minutes to get three complete takes.
For Grade 5 and above it might be good to book an hour session because these songs are longer and more challenging to play.
You might also want time to warm up on the instrument before you perform.
We would recommend that you have played all 3 songs at home on the day of your recording. Please note we will not offer performance advice in this session – that is the job of your teacher 🙂
Please check with your teacher (or yourself) that you have prepared 3 songs, including one that is a Technical Focus. Your exam entry will be invalid if you do not follow this guidance. We would also be happy to check with you before the day if you are unsure.
