Sam started playing guitar when he was just 3 years old. He joined his first band aged 13 and began playing local gigs in pubs and bars around the UK. Sam currently works in original bands, function bands, as a session musician and as a guitar tutor. Sam is a highly experienced musician and has played in a number of bands covering many demanding styles of music including pop, rock, funk, soul, jazz, blues, musical theatre and more. As well as a performing musician and a tutor, Sam also does a lot of work as a session musician, writing arrangements for bands/ songwriters and recording parts on multiple instruments (guitar, bass, drums, piano, keyboards and vocals). In February 2015, Sam spent 4 days recording with UK function band ‘Roxxon‘ in studio 3 at the legendary ‘Abbey Road Studios’.
Sam has performed at many world famous venues and festivals including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, The Jazz Cafe, Lounge on the Farm Festival, The 100 Club, The Cavern Club, The Dublin Castle and New Orleans’ French Quarter Festival. He has also played with various well known artists including Paloma Faith, Lillian Boutte, Treme Brass Band, Tanya Boutte and Khris Royal & Dark Matter. Sam has toured extensively throughout the UK and has performed overseas on a two-month spell with a function band in Corfu, Greece, where he shared guitar parts on two shows with Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (of Guns & Roses). Sam’s passion is the music of New Orleans, where he spent some time during 2013’s French Quarter Festival. During his time there he spent an afternoon with one of New Orleans’ finest piano/guitar players, Jon Cleary.

Sam is also an experienced tutor; he has delivered over 2000 lessons to students aged between 5 and 70, beginner to post grade 8. He also works as a rehearsal/ workshop facilitator and is skilled in designing course materials and syllabus development. Sam specialises in guitar tuition, but can also teach drums, bass and keyboards to either individuals or groups from beginner to advanced standard.

“I love it here at MusicStation” says Sam, “It’s an incredible feeling to know you helped a student learn to play, and there’s no better place to learn than right here at MusicStation”.

Sam is a very versatile musician who can play many styles. He has a great feel and is always finding ways to develop his playing by focusing on the harmony and the interplay with his fellow musicians. He is constantly widening his musical tastes, which shows in the way he plays. Sam works closely on his tone and makes sure that the sound is how he wants to hear it. These features make Sam a very skilled musician with great potential”
“Tom Wiles – LCM Scholar, Drummer
Sam is one of the best guitarists I have had the pleasure to work with. Having never met him before, the first gig we played together he blew me away and left me wanting to work with him a lot more frequently. As well as being a humble, approachable guy, his playing, feel and knowledge is extremely versatile and way beyond his years”
Matt Gibson (of The Soundcasters)”
Sam has a natural ease in playing many different demanding musical styles. His relaxed approach and excellent musicianship make him a highly valued member of any band”
